Pinot Noir Wines from California. Longfellow Pinot Noir 2004 is from the southern end of California's Sonoma Coast. A muscular extraction and deep color give way to classic aromas of ripe cherry fruit, bramble and a hint of vanilla. A burst of bright jammy fruit flavors leads to more subtle notes of licorice, tea and smoke. Silky tannins frame this wine and will allow it to age with grace and beauty. Aging 11 months in 100 percent new French oak gives the nose notes of leather and smoke ahead of the berry-cherry fruit. There's rich concentration in this fairly elegant wine and an earthiness that's nicely balanced with the fruit. This Pinot Noir wine ages well over the next 5 years and can be drunk now through 2013. Total Production is 368 cases.

Longfellow produces premium wines that have deep color and concentrated layers of aromas and flavors, yet are balanced from start through finish. Longfellow's goal is to produce wines that will get better over time, but ones that you will be talking about after dinner and tell your friends about the next day. Longfellow's small varietal production allows Longfellow wines to be truly handcrafted from vineyard to bottle. Every aspect of the winemaking process is directed to produce wines true to their varietal heritage, but unique expressions of the vineyard and climate where they were grown. As with all exceptional wines, the quality starts in the vineyard.
