The HUMMAR Pinot Grigio 2003 is a true boutique Pinot Grigio wine from San Floriano del Collio, Italy. The Pinot Grigio vines have a french origin, subsequently it was cultivated in the Tre Venezie area and in particular in Friuli. This delightful Italian Pinot Grigio has a straw yellow color. The bouquet is clear and strong, it reminds you of acacia flower, it has a dry soft full fragrance which is pleasantly slightly acidity. It pairs well with ham, fresh cheese, nourishing soups, main courses with red sauces, white meats, rice and boiled meats.
HUMAR farm is located in San Floriano, in the middle of Collio, a hilly strip with a high wine inclination in the district of Gorizia. In fact the characteristic ground made of marl and sandstones, the temperate, dry microclimate and a total sun exposure make this area particularly suitable to the vine cultivation. The farm rises to around to 1900 thanks to Antonio Humar and at the beginning it spreads out on a surface of about 2 hectares. In the 50's the sons Marcello and Marino Humar succeed to the founder, they turned the farm to mixed use (fruict wine and animal breeding) and to vine specialization. Marcello and Maino continue to go on with the renewal of the vineyards and of the cellar, working towards aknowledged assortements of wines with the Collio D.O.C. (Denominazione di origine controllata also know as controlled denomination of origin). During the 80's the strenghtening of the brothers' families, with the growing up of the children, allowed the farm to have 30 hectares of vine grounds. From the 1960's, the farm bottles wines of its own production. The care and reliability of the producers are expressed by the grapes transformation, by the finishing and wine bottling. This is due to the most advanced wine making devices and tender loving care of the grapes. The awards received throughout the year validate their efforts.
RATING: Due to the low production, this wine has not been submitted for rating in the USA. It has received rave reviews by International press organizations and industry publications in Italy, inclding the top award of 3 Stars by the Italian wine industry. |
