Organic Red Wine Priorat Clos Del Music 2003 is a delightful blend of Grenache (called Garnacha in El Priorat Spain), Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. This organic red wine is aged for twelve months in French and American oak barrels. It is highly rated and has a complex bouquet of boysenberry, plum, herbs and toasted hazelnut. The palate of this Priorat wine is also complex, layered and creamy. Flavors of toffee, toasted nuts, cocoa and red berries are underscored by an essence of vanilla. Pairing suggestions for this Priorat wine are Beef Stroganoff, rich pasta dishes and heartier Spanish foods. This is a VEGAN organic red wine, meaning that it is certified Organic by USDA accredited Consell Catal de la Producci Agrria Ecolgica. The grapes are collected manually, separately and by variety, following a strict ripening control. Fermented in stainless steel tank for 18 days, after coupage it is transferred to oak barrels (French and American) where it lies for 12 months and then refined in the bottle. Estate bottled in Priorat and wood boxed. This isn't just a Priorat wine, it is a red wine drinking adventure.

The history of wine in El Priorat, Spain dates back to the 12th Century, when the region was administered by de Prior of Scala Del Carthisian Order, from which El Priorat wine takes its name. Its more recent history, however, begins in 1974, with the publication of a document and exhaustive report by the FAO on the regions activity, which concluded that El Priorat Spain enjoyed all the conditions needed to make some of the best red wines in the world. One of these conditions is its special soil. A surface layer with some soil, the result of the stone being ground over the years on a substrate of slatethe so-called licorellaswhere the wines can safely take root on the steep mountainside slopesbetween 300 and 600 meters high, with slopes of 15% and 20% -- protected by plots and terraces which have become part of the regions identity. Another condition is the climate, cooled by the South Wind, offset by the cold north wines. Its peculiar climate makes El Priorat a land of long hot summers and cold dry winters. Bodegas Pinord owns the Mas Blanc estate of which the red grapes for Clos del Music are grown. Due to the lay of the land, almost all of the work must be done manually. Mas Blanc has been farming organically for over 10 years; these efforts have reaped a twofold reward: an extremely high quality grape, which promises equally high quality personal and unique wines, and the personal satisfactions for Mas Blanc of having made an organic and chemical-free nature reserve where birds soar in the air and the song of the cicadas can be heard at dusk.

"We had this wine at a Spanish restaurant dinner. It was reminiscent of the Clio in the nose and taste, but not as intensive. This is a wine that those that appreciate the Clio would like...if you find it, and you enjoy the taste profile of Clio, this would be a good pick up at a reasonable price."
