Shiraz Grenache Wine Rolf Binder Halliwell 2004 has medium density of bright cherry black colors. Expect intense, but still delicate, aroma with wonderful complex floral hints. Rolf Binder's blend of Australian Shiraz and Grenache features a complex palate that shows style and amazing delicacy, with a fresh vibrancy over the palate of black fruit and plum. It has been called a deceptive wine as it is light but with a deep powerful core. Many collectors have recommended that this wine be cellared until 2010 to 2011 to fully take advantage of all its flavors, but it is so delicious now that this will be hard to do.

Rolf Binder has become one of the most famous and sought after winemakers in South Australia, and is credited by many for putting many Australian wines on the map. His parents entered the Australian wine world in the mid 1950's, shortly after immigrating from Hungary. Rolf and Christa were raised in this enviornment and learned the art of winemaking from their earliest days. Rolf is the winemaker for several premium brands, and a consultant for many others. But only one brand crafted at his Veritas Winery bares his own name.
RATINGS: 92 Points - Wine Advocate - Robert Parker
"Although the deep ruby-tinged 2004 Shiraz / Grenache Halliwell seems superficial, it is outstanding in its purity, richness, and overall perfume. While it does not have the depth of its 2003 counterpart, this beauty should drink well for 5-7 years. Note: These wines were formerly sold under the Veritas name, but because of trademark problems, Rolf Binder is in the process of changing his wines’ labels. In addition, the Veritas Pressings is now called Hubris, the Christa Rolf Shiraz/Grenache is now Halliwell, and the Crista Rolf Shiraz is now the Hales Shiraz. From one of Australia’s finest winemakers, this wine stood out brilliantly for its precision, richness, complexity, and ageworthiness. In addition, some very good bargains are available from this talented producer."
89 Points - Wine Spectator
"Bright and lively, with a refreshing balance to the cherry, rhubarb and blackberry flavors that hint at pepper and linger nicely against refined tannins. Drink now through 2012. 2,500 cases"
88 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Rolf Binder's eponymous wines used to be sold under the Veritas label, but now his name is front and center. This entry-level Shiraz-Grenache offers a great introduction to the Binder style, combining a velvety mouthfeel with elegant notes of spice and earth. There's black and plum fruit, but uncommon complexity for an Australian wine in this price range."
